Geo Metro Restore – Dash Controls

My dad just gifted me a 1991 Geo Metro Convertible that he has had for years, but never got around to restoring. It has sat undriven for a long time, and he knows I like a project to work on. It needs a lot of work, starting with the dash controls. The control modules for lights and wipers had internally disintegrated into dust. Replacements aren’t available, so I decided to fabricate new controls.

The logic for the circuit was handled mechanically within the switches. Each time a button was pressed, multiple contacts would be connected and unconnected. I examined the contacts to figure out the wiring, and then wired up new inputs. I cut some scrap metal panels to make a place to mount everything, and installed them just behind the holes that were previously just there for the wires to run to the original modules. Has a bit of a Mad Max vibe now.
