I came across a non-working Robie Jr. robot from the 80s. After taking it apart, I noticed that some solder joints were broken, the wheel treads were falling apart, and some of the battery tabs had broken off.
After resoldering the bad joints, replacing the wheel treads (a guy on eBay makes replacements), and modifying the bot to run on AA batteries, Robie lives once again.
